OUR VISION

“Otef Israel” is a national-social initiative aimed at strengthening unity and shared destiny in Israeli society in all its diversity, regardless of religion, race, or gender. Through a collective shared effort, we will surround the State of Israel with giant flags, free of any political symbolism, which will be positioned along its borders and at strategic and historical sites as a national network commemorating those who fell defending our country and as a symbol of social resilience.

The vision for this initiative was born from a desire and passion to create real change in Israeli society and to overcome the division that characterized us before the tragic events of October 7th. “Otef Israel” is the realization of the Zionist spirit to build an exemplary society based on justice and equality, guided by the values of remembrance and appreciation, unity, and national-social resilience.

The initiative emphasizes the importance of unity in Israeli society, between communities, religions, and different populations. It creates connections between diverse people under a shared purpose and one symbol. It focuses on commemorating all those who sacrificed themselves to defend the homeland by preserving the national heritage and collective memory of the people. Each flag that will be positioned will symbolize the strength, perseverance, and desire to promote values of social resilience even in times of challenges and crises.

“Otef Israel” is an initiative that aspires to expand its circle of influence as much as possible and create collaborations to realize unity, commemoration, and national resilience.

As part of fulfilling these values and expanding the circle of influence, we will collaborate with Non-profit organizations – “Elitzur Israel,” “Arevim Zeh LaZeh” and “Imachem”, which work to promote values of fairness, equality, sportsmanship, mutual responsibility, connection between different communities, and building bridges between different sectors in the country.

This collaboration aims to emphasize the connection between sporting excellence and building a united society, while creating a deep connection between remembering the past and strengthening the present and future.

PROJECT FOUNDERS
  • Shalev Atoun
    Entrepreneur

Shalev Atoun, 27, married to Lihi and father of Refael and Ari. I was born and raised in Nitzanei Oz, where my love for this place and its people has always been with me. I served as a warrior and commander in the 890th Battalion of the Paratroopers, and today I work in design and construction.

“Otef Israel” project began as a family dream. Since childhood, I heard my father talk about establishing a project to raise a flag at the Nitzanei Oz Junction, as a symbol of national pride and connection. I decided to fulfill my father’s dream, which later became my own – to unite all parts of Israeli society around the flag, the symbol that unites us all.

The flag is much more than a symbol for me. It represents our shared values – the sacrifice, commitment, and Israeli identity shared by each of us, Jews, Arabs, Druze, Christians, and Muslims. “Otef Israel” was born from the desire to immortalize the flag in our daily lives, to create a sense of pride and belonging, and to unite people for the common purpose of doing good and preserving the state’s values.

Yan Stadden, 39, Moshav Dekel. Married to Caroline and father of Lee, Reef, and Tai. I’m the CEO of YSLA Landscape Architecture for the past 8 years. My office has been in the Eshkol Regional Council since its first day, with the intention of developing the area where I grew up and chose to live and raise my children.

“Otef Israel” for me is important project that symbolizes the strength of both Jewish and Israeli people. After the difficult year we’ve experienced, this project symbolizes for me the unity of our people and the duty to fight for our existence in the land of Israel. The flag has strong foundations in the ground, the pole is strong, standing firm and upright, and the flag flies high in the sky with pride. We, as people, also have strong roots. we need to continue standing tall and show the world the strength of the people living in Israel. The strength of people connected through different communities, cultures, traditions and religions. Only together will we prevail.

    “Am Israel Chai”!

Yoav Lazar, 30, Jerusalem. Married to Yarden and father of Tom. In my recent past, I served as a Company Commander in the Paratroopers Brigade, 890th Battalion. From the time I released from serving until today, I serve as a Vise Company Commander in the Paratroopers Reserve Brigade 55.

“Otef Israel” is a project that symbolizes the essence for which I served over 200 reserve duty days in the last year during the “Haravot Barzel” War. As a father to a child who born at the beginning of the war, the project represents for me, more than anything, the duty to fight for the realization of our values as Jews and Israelis in the land of Israel under one flag, and in the same breath, the endless yearning for unity and mutual respect.

All this, so we can ensure our children will grow up in a better place to live.
